Normally in photoshop, when im using any brush, it shows me the sillhouette of the brush, and the areas it will effect when i use it.

About 5 minutes ago, the brush turned into a uniform sized dot, with a sort of crosshair around it. That cursor you get when you make a brush extremely small, so the crosshairs help track where you move it. Ive tried restarting photoshop, changing the brush and brush size, but nothing works. From a size one circular brush, to a 2500 size splatter effect brush, it just shows the crosshair and dot, its so hard trying to work like this, help! O:

check your CAPS LOCK.. if the caps lock is on the cursors turn in to what u see right now…

Because in flash the brushes make the brush smooth but in photoshop it looks bumpy and ugly when I try every brush >:O!

You mean how flash can automatically smooth lines when you draw with the brush?
There’s no equivalent feature in photoshop, since photoshop works with pixels rather than vectors that flash uses.

Try getting a tablet(wacom or tabletpc) if you’re having trouble making smooth strokes with the brush?
I got a used tablet PC off ebay for $ 220 that was pretty decent. 1.5GHz Pentium M, I put in 2gigs of ram. Runs photoshop great.

I have a Photoshop image that I’m placing into Illustrator CS4. It keeps coming in with a white background. I’ve tried saving it a png, which I thought would preserve the transparency, but it’s not working. Any other ideas?

Open your image in Photoshop, use magnetic lasso to cut it out. Save the selection made with lasso then open a new Illustrator file, set the background to transparent, finally, go to file, then select place, open up the selection you made from the image. The selection should be placed on a transparent background.

Unfortunately, i tried to activate Photoshop Cs4 with a over dated serial number. this software has been downloaded from adobe website. Now i cant open this programme, it says always “Licensing for this product has expired” after installing or re-installing it though giving original serial number. Now, please, tell me what to do????

If you downloaded from an Adobe website, you should be able to call their toll free customer service number from the website and they can unlock it from their end. I recently went through this exact same problem with one of the programs at work, and this is what I did and it worked just fine.

First, restart Photoshop, if you haven’t already. Second, in the brushes window, at the top there is a little triangle, click on it and the list of brush sets appears (I apologize if this is oold information to you but just in case you don’t already know), if it’s not in this list there is an option to “Load Brushes” try that. In Mac file architecture, it’s in Macintosh HD- Applications- Adobe Photoshop- Presets- Brushes, hope that helps.
