It says that your scratch disks are full. Photoshop takes a lot of memory to run. Try restarting and not having any other program open while running it. Also make sure your hard drive has room, too.

can someone tell me what’s the difference between cs4 on a mac vs cs4 on windows?

Question by Jason365: can someone tell me what’s the difference between cs4 on a mac vs cs4 on windows?
i got a new job and they’d prefer if i use cs4 on mac rather than cs4 on windows…….in my opinion it’s silly. my pc is super fast. so what gives?

Best answer:

Answer by Justin S
Well, as far as I know the only real difference is that the windows CS4 has a 64-bit and 32-bit version of photoshop and the mac version only has the 32-bit. Files made on one version should open up fine on the other. And to further favour the windows version, it should run on a mac via bootcamp anyway 😛

Sounds silly to me too, I think just because Apple has this reputation people think that windows is inferior and you HAVE to only use Mac. As far as Adobe products go like CS4 it doesnt matter. If you were talking about using software only available on Mac like Final Cut or Logic then it would make sense. Apple annoys me because they buy out all these companies, then make their software Mac exclusive.

Many companies stick with Mac’s, they are generally ‘more reliable than PCs’, less prone to viruses, technical support is probably good. If the company workflow is all Mac based they might think having a pc is a bad idea (though it probably doesnt matter).

The best thing about the windows version is that you should be able to run it on a mac with bootcamp. You are allowed to install CS4 on both ‘a home computer and a work computer but not use both at the same time’ But then if you dont have a mac what do you do?

Can I use Photoshop brushes on GIMP?

Question by Defy the Dangerous: Can I use Photoshop brushes on GIMP?
I bought an Advanced Photoshop magazine that happened to come with a CD with free photoshop brushes, but I don’t have Photoshop anymore. Could I somehow transfer it to GIMP?

Best answer:

Answer by Who Knows???
I honestly don’t know, but you could try installing them to see if they’ll hold. See below for instructions:

Open Gimp. If you have a version of Gimp prior to Gimp 2.6.1 then on the main palette go to File and choose Preferences. A new window will open. Scroll down the left-hand side of the image and look for the Folders Icon. Expand it. then look, for the brushes folder. Highlight it by left clicking on it once. Look at the right hand side of the window. Drop your brushes into whatever directory or directories are supplied. Restart Gimp.

For Gimp version 2.6.1: Go to Edit and then Preferences.

Good luck!

Also, if you look for specific things try Google:
Photoshop “specific term” brush
Just remember the legal stuff when you’re using one for public work…

Usually works for me.
Deviantart is also a good place to look for brushes..

How do I downgrade my Illustrator EPS file from CS4 to CS2 capable?

Question by Kurt: How do I downgrade my Illustrator EPS file from CS4 to CS2 capable?
The sign company working with my client needs my CS4 Illustrator EPS file to be a CS2 Illustrator EPS file. How do I save it to downgrade it to CS2?

Best answer:

Answer by Help Me
AI8 EPS tends to be the common version for third-party software support. Remember to convert type to outlines.

In general, to save as an EPS;

– choose “Save As”
– in the dropbox, choose EPS
– a new dialog will appear and the first dropbox will give you your choices,
Choose CS2.
– as a backup I usually send a AI8 EPS as a backup.

How do I make my brush-strokes taper in Photoshop 7?

Question by chrissyberry: How do I make my brush-strokes taper in Photoshop 7?
I’m working with a Wacom tablet and PS7. I want to make brushstrokes that taper off as I lessen the pressure on my pen. I’ve tried clicking on the shape dynamics and smoothing options of the brushes menu to no avail. When I use my pen, I still make lines that don’t vary in width according to pen pressure! What am I doing wrong? Do I need to adjust another setting?

How to create high dynamic range HDR photos using adobe photoshop cs4?

Question by sarah m.: How to create high dynamic range HDR photos using adobe photoshop cs4?
how can i create a high dynamic range HDR image using adobe photoshop cs4? what are some of the effects/filters people use?

Best answer:

Answer by screwdriver
Basically you don’t, use Photomatix Pro instead.

Photoshop even the new HDR in CS5 is disapointingly pretty useless.

The latest version of Photomatix (Version 6) does a pre process first then shows you the result, if there are any ‘ghosts’ then draw a ring around them and select them and Photomaix elininates the ‘ghosts’ – magically. You can use any of 4 different ways of combining your bracketed shots and finally unlike PS updates for life are free.
