Question by Ari Berry: How do I change my brush in Photoshop so that it goes from thin to thick and back to thin?
I’ve tried changing it using different brush styles but I can’t figure out how everyone else seems to do it. Any help?

Answer by Happy-go-lucky Rita Are you using any tablet pen with thousand levels of touch sensitivity, which allows you to vary thickness of lines. I use Wacom intuos4 SMALL for my laptop.
I can’t help you with PhotoShop, as I am not a big fan of that software. I use Corel’s Painter that allows me to customize brushes in any way I like. Sometimes I use PhotoShop for some things.
A lot of digital artists work back and forth between PhotoShop and Painter. My artist sister does it too in a publishing company. Painter has a greater range of brushes than PhotoShop. Besides, you can customize your brushes there.
Painter 11 is very compatible with PhotoShop (both softwares are sisters invented by Mark Zimmer). You can open your PhotoShop files in Painter and work therein. After saving files, you can re-open them in PhotoShop, with all their layers and masks intact.
Painter can recognise PhotoShop files’ layers, masks, etc. In Painter, you can actually open new file and save it as any of PhotoShop formats.
You’ll love Painter as it is the most artist-friendly software you can ever find – and you’ll love their range of brushes as well.
By the way, the interface in Painter is somewhat similiar to that of PhotoShop. Some tools are similar as well. If you know your PhotoShop, then you can easily familiarize yourself with Painter.

Question by bap32211: What is the difference between Adobe CS3 and CS4?
I just placed an order for CS4 at my college bookstore because they are no longer selling CS3. I wanted to know if there are any major changes that would make it more difficult from what I already know with CS3. I’m getting the standard division because I only need InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
Best answer:
Answer by Sean Huge differences. Lightweight, easier to use, less annoying menus, and they combined some that were very similar (Dodge, Burn). CS3 is great, and I won’t say it’s bad, but you will love CS4.
Too bad I didn’t meet you sooner, the Master Collection is free, if you know what to do.
Question by Jessa H: When I download photoshop brushes, how do I open and use them in photoshop?
I’ve downloaded several brushes, I just don’t know how to access them and use them.
Best answer:
Answer by P&G Most brushes download as a zipped file. First unzip and extract to the location below that matches your PS version and OS.
♦ CS4 Windows – C:\Documents and Settings \%yourusername%\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Presets\Brushes
♦ CS3 Windows – C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Brushes.
♦ Mac – Applications >Adobe Photoshop %version% > Presets > Brushes.
Once the file resides in the proper location you must then load it You would load the Brush set as follows:
• Select the Brush Tool
• Click the Brush field pull-down from the Options bar at the top of the canvas
• Click the little right facing triangle button from the top of the dialog
• If you loaded the abr file to the proper folder, the brush set should be listed
• Click on the desired brush set and Click the Append Button at the prompt
