Regular PS is run off your computer along with all its resource files and things it needs to run. A portable version is installed on a portable flash drive or something similar and can be run on any computer. All you have to do is plug the flash drive in and run it from there.

I’ll tell you why you can’t – Photoshop Portable is an ILLEGAL version of Photoshop. The only reason it is “portable” is because the help files and many other larger features were removed to make it a smaller file size, and then it was offered for free as somewhat of a scam.
Adobe Photoshop DOES NOT sell anything called “Photoshop Portable.” You need to uninstall that right now and either buy Photoshop or download a free alternative, like GIMP or Paint.net, both in which you can successfully use photoshop brushes in.

im looking for CS4 but i dont want to download the full extended version, i have a Pc and a mac and i would like PS on both… if i were to download the portable, would it work on both operating systems?

No. Macs need their own version although the new Intel based Macs can run Windows.

I have adobe photoshop CS4 And When I try and use the pen tool, Whenever I click on the place I want to start the line, It Stretchs out both ways and it wont let me do what I need to do propperly.

That, I’m afraid is how it’s supposed to work. I suggest you get hold of a few tutorials online on the Pen tool and its uses and learn how the thing operates. Trust me, once you get your head around the (admittedly wacky) way it works, it will be well worth it.
Bear in mind that the Pen Tool is not the only selection topol available in Photoshop. If you find that the Pen Tool is too awkward to use, then look into doing the same thing via masks. Again, the web will get you plenty of tutorials on masking and where and when to use it.

Thinking about buying Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended portable application. Just a quick few questions though: will the default brushes and effects be installed, would I be able to install custom brushes and effects and is it exactly the same as normal photoshop CS3 Extended? Thanks for your replies.
when i install a font it doesnt show up.on portable the files are different.
I have My photoshop cs3 installed on a USB so i can take it anywhere, And i’m trying to import brushes to photoshop. i really don’t know how to do it but i’ve watched tutorials and when i try to follow along, it’s like i can’t find the photoshop folder in my system. there isn’t a folder that leads to presets. can you help? do you know what i’m doing wrong?
