Adobe CS4 came out recently. I want to purchase the program, but can’t afford to shell out $ 1,500.

I have heard that the student edition is around $ 350.00. I am not a student though and understand that if you purchase Student Edition programs, you must provide documentation or proof that you are enrolled. What would I need to do and what are the restrictions of buying Student Edition software if, once again, you are not a student.

That would be illegal. You are violating the licensing that Adobe has and if you do this you are committing fraud. Both you and anyone who assisted you would be committing fraud, and could be taken to court for this. It’s a bad idea.

A better idea would be enroll in a couple of local community college courses (even for just one quarter, so you are qualified as at least part time). Once you’ve done that, you will have student id and can go from there. But do not attempt to get this any other way.

Hi, so I am new to photoshop and was wondering when you download a brush (say angel wings for an example) when you put them on the drawing it is the one whole colour – can you make them 2 or 3 different colours?

Say like I wanted the top black the middle white and a few pink feathers in between – how do you do that?

A brush cannot be multicolored. You can only choose 1 color for your current brush at a time. The best way to make your angel wings colorful would be to:
Make a new layer behind your lineart
Select the angel-wing brush and the desired size
Choose 1 color for the brush that will be the most dominant.
After you stamp the angel wings where you want them on the new layer, select the “Lock Transparency” button in the layer panel
Choose another brush, select the desired color, and manually add the different color feathers you would like.

I currently have Windows XP and i want to upgrade to Windows 7. The problem is, the 2 programs (Microsoft Office 2007 and Photoshop CS4) had already been installed on my laptop but didn’t come with the disks. I need too have these programs for School work and personal use. So when i install windows 7, will these programs not work? Is there a way to get the CD key without the disk? I need help people.

You cant do a direct upgrade from XP to Win 7. It has to be a clean install. You will have to reinstall all of your software again. So yes, you will have to re-enter your Photoshop CS4 key.

You will need to purchase CS4 in order to reinstall it. But you might want to wait. CS5 is due out soon.

I will guess that you are using Windows or this would be so much simpler.It is not really that difficult, I found a video on yootoob that explains the Deviant Art one.

I would get them from sourceforge or better yet, GIMP.
One is the MAN page, Windows use to have them.
But I am not here to argue that.
This link from SCGlider explains what the most possible error is, to install or add brushes you cannot yet willy nilly just install a brush, you have to install all brushes in one package.
That is what that video shows, notice that the GIMP Data folder that the brushes were placed in was empty. That is kinda important.
The brush collection is a file, the file is like almost any file, it is a file.
takeshi677 explains this, sorta.
The brushes file has to be extracted on Windows, gzipped or whatever on GNU/Linux or a *nix like system.
You may want to use 2.6.x , it is the most recent stable release.
In *nix circles, Odd # is usually a BETA and Even is a Stable, example; v1.3 is a Beta, v2.2 is Stable.In the same aspect, v0.1 is Alpha, v0.1 is Beta and v0.2 is Stable.
GIMP is at 2.7 wich is the next step to v2.8 wich will be a stable release.
Look at GNU/FSF or the FSF/UNESCO directory for alot of that stuff. Sourceforge is also a good repository.

Okay i’m going up the f**king wall. I’m making a denim texture and all is fine, until I get to making the seam. There is this tutorial i’m following but it doesn’t work for me (typical) for some reason. So now my only choice is to get a seam brush pre made.. does anyone have one or know one or can make one or something !!!!! Please help, i’m close to killing myself.

I know we should press alt and click to define a point source and all however, when I do that and move the healing brush, the entire image gets copied and it makes a duplicate of the layer! Please help me to learn what it wrong and how to have just a small portion of the picture as the point source!

Make sure your brush size is small. Sounds like its in the hundreds, when you ought to be in single or double digits.
