Q&A: Photoshop Brushes: Abr files (HELP!!!)?

Question by antoinette2190: Photoshop Brushes: Abr files (HELP!!!)?
I have photoshop pro x.. it’s corel and it’s from the mid 2000’s. I tried to upload brushes for my program but it says my program doesn’t read abr files and I don’t know how to fix it, when I know it does read abr. I’ve downloaded brushes before. It’s just being stupid. I don’t know what to do. Please help me. I need either a place that makes jif or jpeg brushes or a way for my laptop to read abr. HELP!

The trouble may be that abr files are intended for Adobe Photoshop not Paint Shop Pro, so some abr files mat not be compatible with Corel products especially if they are created in a more recent version of Photoshop.

How do you view Photoshop brushes (.abr files) without opening Photoshop first?

Answer by Marlee
If they are in the default folder:Open your Applications folder (it will be under Programs on a PC). Find the Presets folder. Inside that is the Brushes folder.

If they aren’t there go to My Computer, then click “C”
Hit the search button and search for the keyword .abr.
They will show up and you can open the folder they are in.

how do i upgrade/update [only] photoshop CS2 to CS4-just like convert only with all the files still in it?

Question by ~princesss~: how do i upgrade/update [only] photoshop CS2 to CS4-just like convert only with all the files still in it?
i want to have adobe photoshop cs4. but i don’t want to waste my time transferring all those files i have in CS2. is there anyway to JUST convert/upgrade/update my CS2 to CS4? any sites that offer free trials?

it has to be that when i run my CS4, all my files at CS2 are automatically in it.

No problem. Going from CS2 to CS4 will not wipe out your files. Your files will not be effected as they are, most likely, in folders outside of CS2. Only if you have downloaded a bunch of plugins, brushes, styles, etc. and placed then in with those that came with CS2 are you likely to lose anything. It is better to place those things in their separate folder and with Preferences, point PS to that folder.

There is no “upgrade” to a higher version of PS. Each version is a standalone program. I have five versions of Elements and two versions of PS installed on the same compujter and have never lost anything.

How to install photoshop cs4 without loosing .bmp in new files to create?

Question by Sam Merlotte: How to install photoshop cs4 without loosing .bmp in new files to create?
After installing photoshop i loose ability to create .bmp on desktop (Right mouse click > new > bmp).
why photoshop replace this and i want it back.
HOW?

Answer:

Answer by Nahum
This has more to do with your operating system than with Photoshop. PS does take ‘ownership’ of the BMP format, but you can return it to the OS.

If you’re on Windows 7, you have to make a registry change. This site has a file that can automate the change for you:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/28677-new-context-menu-remove-restore-default-menu-items.html

In Windows XP, you can add items to the C:\WINDOWS\System32\SHELLNEW folder. Copies of these will appear in the “New…” dialog.

Q&A: HELP! When I download free photoshop brushes and extract them using Winrar, they turn into Adobe Reader9 files?

Question by LyssaMonet: HELP! When I download free photoshop brushes and extract them using Winrar, they turn into Adobe Reader9 files?
please help!

Answer:

I can figure out two reasons for this:
1. Reader uses the same file extension name therefore is used by Reader too. This is no problem, just copy the files in your PS folder and run them through Photoshop.
2. The files are fake.

How to open mutiple files in Photoshop CS4 in a single tab?

Question by IWannaAnimate: How to open mutiple files in Photoshop CS4 in a single tab?
OK, so photoshop is the only program that i can’t figure out how to do this, when i try to drag files and drop them in one tab, they all open seperately, anyway to open em in a single tab?

Answer:

Answer by Geo. I
Your reference to “tabs” confuses me. Just exactly what are you trying to do?
If you’re trying to combine all of the images into one (making up a collage type effect, for example), then you’ll have to open each image and drag them all into the one (rather large!!!) sheet.
If you’re using ther online version of Photoshop to do this, then you’re out of luck. Just ain’t gonna happen, cap’n. Adobe have specifically set it up this way so that (for example) the online version of Photoshop can’t be used for copyright theft (opening a whole website of images into one document and saving it out, for example).
Hope This of Use
