Question by Hahaha: How do you make the background black in Photoshop cs4 extended?
I do not like the background, and i just want to make it black. I have done it before i just cannot remember how to!

Depending on what’s easier to select, select either the background area; or the the bit you want to keep and inverse the selection (menu Select>Inverse) so you have all the background area selected.

Go to menu Edit>Clear, then Edit>Fill and select black as your fill colour.

The fact that you’re asking that question makes me think that you’re not (very) familiar with Photoshop.

If that is the case, you have a LOT of learning to do before you would even want to think about getting more stuff.

this sounds stupid. hah.
but I’m trying to use a brush, and it will only go on as white.
I’ve made sure the image is on RGB,
and I’ve made sure that the color i want is chosen,
and I’ve tried the brush setting on normal and on color,
and neither will work.

Check that brush opacity and flow are at 100%

Ok, well I’m completely new to Photoshop and I know that you can cut images (like a footballers body) and paste them onto another background. I want to do this with footballers heads so I can make pictures like Messi in a Utd kit and that. I usually select path then right click then Make section then Copy Merged but I can’t move the image now. Can anyone help me? Thanks

If your document has several layers, check in your Layers palette that you are working on the layer that contains the item you want to move.

I am worried that if I buy the regular CS4 (not Extended) it will take away some features of Photoshop that were in previous versions. I feel that the Extended version is the “full” program, whereas CS4 is a cut-down version. Is this true, or does CS4 contain everything EXCEPT the mentioned features for engineering?

Well, CS4 does contain many more features than those before it but as you know CS4 Extended does contain features that normal CS4 doesn’t I would definitely suggest getting extended as it will help you more especially when looking around the internet for tutorials because you might be on a long project you could be half way through a tutorial that’s like an hour long then they use a filter or command or adjustment etc that your version doesn’t contain then you have done all that work for nothing and you will either have to give up or figure out a way to do it with what you’ve got which could take a long time and you may never actually find a way it is best if you get extended it is most definitely worth it

As you likely discovered on Adobe’s website, only PhotoShop CS5 Extended is offered as a downloadable Trial version.

That’s because Adobe removes older versions, when they introduce the latest version.

So, NO, you can’t get a CS 4 legal TRIAL version, from Adobe, or anywhere else. And, most Torrents don’t waste their time with Trials, either. And, it begs the question: WHY CS 4???
