Adobe Photoshop Elements is a very watered-down version of Adobe Photoshop CS4. The functionality isn’t all there.

I would like to know the difference between Adobe CS3 and CS4 can someone tell me please?

Question by Lisa: I would like to know the difference between Adobe CS3 and CS4 can someone tell me please?

The difference is they add new exciting features to each upgrade.
CS-
CS-2
CS-3
CS-4
Each upgraded version, Adobe add’s features that make the software more user friendly and there features improvement in may cases where it would take 2 or 3 moves to attain a feature can now be don automatically with one click.
I have owned Photoshop from as far back when they only had
Adobe Photo Deluxe and have improved it over the years, the last 20 in my case to be exact.

can someone tell me what’s the difference between cs4 on a mac vs cs4 on windows?

Question by Jason365: can someone tell me what’s the difference between cs4 on a mac vs cs4 on windows?
i got a new job and they’d prefer if i use cs4 on mac rather than cs4 on windows…….in my opinion it’s silly. my pc is super fast. so what gives?

Best answer:

Answer by Justin S
Well, as far as I know the only real difference is that the windows CS4 has a 64-bit and 32-bit version of photoshop and the mac version only has the 32-bit. Files made on one version should open up fine on the other. And to further favour the windows version, it should run on a mac via bootcamp anyway 😛

Sounds silly to me too, I think just because Apple has this reputation people think that windows is inferior and you HAVE to only use Mac. As far as Adobe products go like CS4 it doesnt matter. If you were talking about using software only available on Mac like Final Cut or Logic then it would make sense. Apple annoys me because they buy out all these companies, then make their software Mac exclusive.

Many companies stick with Mac’s, they are generally ‘more reliable than PCs’, less prone to viruses, technical support is probably good. If the company workflow is all Mac based they might think having a pc is a bad idea (though it probably doesnt matter).

The best thing about the windows version is that you should be able to run it on a mac with bootcamp. You are allowed to install CS4 on both ‘a home computer and a work computer but not use both at the same time’ But then if you dont have a mac what do you do?

Q&A: Photoshop: Difference between brush preset pallet and tool preset?

Question by alleyducf: Photoshop: Difference between brush preset pallet and tool preset?
What is the difference between creating a new brush for the brushes presets, and creating a new tool preset in the tool preset pallet?

I’m noticing that creating a new tool preset does not coordinate with the brushes preset…

AND how can a save just the brushes I make?

Best answer:

Answer by Plugnickle
creating a new brush is limited to the characteristics of the brush tool (ie. shape, texture, etc. whereas tool presets is a preset of any of the tools in the tools palette, (ie. gradation, saturation, line tool, shape tool)

to save new brush:
Choose New Brush Preset from the palette menu, enter a name for the preset brush, and click OK.
Click the Create New Brush button .

what is the major differences between cs2 and cs4?

Question by chip: what is the major differences between cs2 and cs4?
I have the adobe cs2 suite and am thinking about upgrading to the cs4, but don’t want to spend the money if the differences aren’t that big. Would it be worth it?

Answer by Nayab
Any new version of the program is an improved version of it.

For example, Photoshop CS2 does not work well with intel macs or windows vista, because they did not exist when the program was released.

There are several new tools in Photoshop CS4 from CS2: Smart Objects, Smart Filters, Quick Selection Tool, Zoomify, 3D capabilities and lots more, not to mention the improvements to camera raw and bridge.

If you are worried about not being able to figure out the program because it might look too different, I wouldn’t worry, its not really that different, almost everything from cs2 is in the same place.

What are the major differences between Photoshop 7 and Photoshop CS4?

Question by X: What are the major differences between Photoshop 7 and Photoshop CS4?
I’m going to make a shit fromm working with version 7 to CS4. But before I do, I wish that someone could inform me on the major differences between the two different versions. And also I wish that someone could also tell me the pros and cons of using CS4. So really I’m asking two questions.

The same core tool set is there with vast optimizations and efficiencies allocated to each tool. But beyond the core basics, there aren’t many new tools. Also, the latest version of the Adobe suite has been created for the latest 8-core macs and 64 bit OS environments (64bit Windows too). Unless you have the latest tower, upgrading may not be the best idea. It could chug.

Adobe integrated 3D, but it’s a 2 Dimensional version of 3D. Not true 3D like Maya, C4D, 3DSMAX, Houdini, zBrush, MudBox, etc. Also, the performance of the 3D option is tremendously slow, and I’m on the latest 8-core 2.25 with an nvidia gtx 285 and the apps running from a solid state drive with a spare cache drive installed.

Regarding the improvements to the toolsets, take the rubber stamp tool for instance. The core function is similar but now there is a live stamp preview of what you are about to clone, without a click. You can also hold shift or control to align the stamp perfectly to assure the clone is precise. This is a tremendous help when creating textures. It is estimating and masking a preview before you execute the clone method.

Also, the workflow between flash and after effects has been improved since Macromedia was bought out by Adobe. The Flash team has integrated import and blend mode features from After Effects into Flash, so importing a PSD into Flash is nearly as easy to do as importing a PSD into After Effects. Though, it’s a bit clunky and could use some help.

Other apps have been integrated into Photoshop such as Imageready and it’s splicing options and animation options. So there is no need to launch an additional app when saving for web.

The updates since V7 have been geared towards optimizing your workflow, mostly items that alpha and beta users have been complaining about for years. Before spending the cash, try the free trial version at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ I’d say the jump from Version 5.5 to 7 was a big upgrade, but the CS line still feels similar to 7 if you ask me.

I have CS3 Extended, but I just heard about CS4.
How different is it from CS3 Extended?

It has a slightly modified theme, if you will, and it can do some things like 3D, and it has some improved panorama stuff I think, but it’s pretty much the same overall. Probably not worth the pricetag though.
