Q&A: What is the simplest way to posterize an image in Illustrator CS4?
Question by fodder: What is the simplest way to posterize an image in Illustrator CS4?
From a photo. I’m thinking like the old Grand Theft Auto covers or the newspaper-style iconic images of people at the end of sherlock holmes.
I understand there is a “posterize” option but it’s too messy, not smooth enough. I’m leaning more toward the old Grand Theft Auto covers.

I would try vectoring them. I do vectoring all the time and it looks a lot better than the posterize option. You just need to map out all the value that you want and ….just go look up vector art.
