On the Adobe website, they have a page in the Community section where you can download brushes for free for Photoshop. I tried to download a brush for Photoshop. I saved it as the right type of file, and I saved it in the Brushes folder of the Adobe Photoshop folder. When I go to Load Brushes in the Photoshop Program, I am in the Brushes folder, but there are no brushes there. What do I need to do to get the brushes on the website?

There are a lot of community sites for both Elements and Photoshop and I don’t know where you downloaded the brush from.

Brushes are abr files and they’re blue and white. This is a image of my brushes folder in Elements 9.

You don’t download just one brush. You download a set of brushes that has a name. (and you don’t have to download it as a certain file type…. you just select a place to download it to and then click OK to download it. I usually download and save to my Desktop so I always know where the folder is;)

Normally, brushes download in Zip folders. You right click on a zip folder, click on Extract…. then just click on Extract All in the list that appears. An “unzipped” folder that you can click to open appears in the same location as the zip folder.

Now find and double click on the unzipped folder. Right click on the blue and white abr file and click on “Copy”.

Now, you go to Windows Explorer. You can find Windows Explorer along the left margin of Pictures, Documents, Music and Videos. You work your way down to the Brushes folder, double click it to open it, find a nice empty spot to right click on then click “Paste”. The brush set is installed.

The next time you launch Elements and click on the Paintbrush, your brush set should be listed in the dropdown of the brush selector by its name.

200 brushes? Are you sure want to that? OK, look for “Photoshop” folder under “Documents and Settings” folder and put all of your brushes under “Presets>Brushes” folder.

Loading brushes of that amount can enormously slow down your Photoshop, so I am not recommend this. Though tiring and impractical, you’d better put your brushes in categorized folders. You can load them when you really need them, and unload them when you don’t need them anymore. Same thing can be said about other things like external plugins, styles, or actions.

Well, it’s your choice.

The license is good for one machine, unless Adobe offers some kind of multi-license pack. Those generally cost quite a bit extra, though.

Use the Free Transform tool. Just press CTRL+T then hold SHIFT and click one of the corners and resize. When finished, just click your arrow tool. A dialog will popup asking if you want to apply changes, just click Yes.
