How do I make paint brush looks in Photoshop or Illustrator?

Question by aurora_dreamer0001: How do I make paint brush looks in Photoshop or Illustrator?
Trying to make Japanese Kanji and can’t figure out how to make that brush effect both with the tips of a writing coming to a point and with the “bristle” marks going a direction. Illustrator prefered but I can do it in Photoshop too. Tutorials or exact instructions are fine.
Jake, please reread the question. This is not even close to what I was asking about.

Try to install East Asian Languages then go to Advanced and you can set the Standard Encoding to Japanese. Hope this can help.

How to install Photoshop brushes on Windows Vista…?

Question by Leis: How to install Photoshop brushes on Windows Vista…?
Whenever I try to download a photoshop brush on Vista, I am denied.
The message that pops up says,
“Error: Access is denied.
Cannot create (file names)
Adminsitrative privileged may be required.”
My account is an Administrator account as I am the only one that uses this computer.

How can I change this so that I am able to download the brushes???

I hate how finicky and difficult Vista is.

Why don’t you download GIMP it is a carbon copy of Adobe Photoshop
It has more brushes than you can shake a stick at.
It is a true desktop illustrator.

How do you get that brush shape in Photoshop that’s sharp at both ends and thick in the middle?

Question by a&b: How do you get that brush shape in Photoshop that’s sharp at both ends and thick in the middle?
Is Photoshop supposed to come with it, or do I have to set it up myself in brush presets? If I have to set it up myself, what settings should I use? Thanks!

Well first you need a wacom tablet, or cintique. If you just have a mouse, you won’t have the pressure sensitivity to make that feature you speak of, happen.

Second, click on the brushes menu. At the top right of the menu, there should be a tiny arrow pointing down. Click on it. Another window should open. Somewhere in that window there should be a list that says, ” Small Thumbnail, Large Thumbnail, Small List, Large List, & Stroke Thumbnail.” Click on “Stroke Thumbnail”. That should show you the shape of the brush that your talking about.

Now simply click on that brush, and your done. Now paint with it.

There are tons of brushes available for download for photoshop. There are also a lot that can be considered “wispy” in the brush library, I have no idea which one you are talking about. Post a picture?
